Sandals South Coast

Review by Terri, 3/31/2020

i Dave!  We had an amazing time.  We loved our room....had breakfast on the balcony every morning. Loved the view and how quiet the resort was.  It was probably the most relaxing vacation we had ever taken. When I heard it was going to be a whole week I thought it would be too long.  But we both said we could have stayed even longer.

The best thing about the butler service was being set up at the beach cabana with drinks and water. They came and took our lunch order everyday. We LOVED the jerk chicken.

We weren’t sure about the price difference between butler service and no butler service. Don’t know what we’d miss if we didn’t do it. Does that make sense?  We are pretty low key as far as what we need on vacation . I understand the beach cabana was a butler level service and we’d for sure miss that.

We went to the Y and S Falls with Kenroy. We really enjoyed meeting Kenroy and the Falls. Kenroy was great to talk to about Jamaica. He brought is what he said was “The Best of the West” jerk sauce to take home.  We ended up skipping the Pelican Bar.

Didn’t love how long it takes to get to the resort from airport. Those roads are crazy!

The biggest negative for us was we really enjoy hanging in the water.  But there was seaweed everywhere.

One other thing, I would have liked better seafood.  We had seafood several nights but for being on an island, I would have hoped for better.  That could be the all inclusive thing.   And because it was such a remote location, leaving the property to go to a restaurant was not really an option.

Overall, this was almost the perfect vacation!  We really just relaxed and enjoyed.  I gave you the good and the bad but the good far outweighed the negatives.  Thanks for helping Leonard plan this great surprise!

Thank you for checking in during our trip! All went really well. We loved the resort!!!! Back in 2010 Kim told us it (and st Lucia where we ended up) would be a great honeymoon destination.  Kim you were right, we loved it. Great resort, friendly staff and they were on top of things. Nice beach, fun pools and amazing ocean and sunset view from Dutch village. I’ve attached some pictures.

Hi there!

It was so nice to have some time to rest and be together.  Our weather wasn't fabulous, but I know that's outside of control.  Our butlers were fabulous, particularly Ainsley.  Our room (both the room itself and its location) was great.  It was the perfect amount of space. We loved being right on the beach and having a beach view room. The beach chairs our butlers saved for us each day were close and very close to club sandals which was great for bathroom breaks. We got massages one day and had a fabulous experience with the spa as well. We would highly recommend the couples massage on the beach.

The only thing I think we were disappointed in was the food.  We had such a great experience with the food in Grenada when we were there 4 years ago and were so looking forward to that same experience at South Coast. I'd say we felt like the food was a C+ or B- over all. Portions were small, quality seemed low.  We loved the Jerk Shack for lunch - honestly the best food we had at the resort.  But over all our dinners were disappointing. Twice after dinner, Rusty ordered room service because he was still hungry. I don't think any of our dinners left us raving or excited.

We definitely appreciated the heads up about the drive to and from the airport.  Our ride to the resort didn't seem so bad - it was a little rougher going back to the airport but definitely do able.

All in all, we still had a good time! Hopefully this helps but let me know if you need or want any further info.

Thank you for all your help!
Melissa

Good Morning!

Just wanted to check back in and let you know the honeymoon was great! We really enjoyed out time at Sandals in Jamaica.
We only took one day off the resort and we took a catamaran out to Floyd's Pelican bar. That was really awesome - would definitely do that again next time we head to Jamaica. We also enjoyed a nice couples massage on the resort and definitely got our fair share of relaxation and eating all the food.

Thank you all for your help in getting us prepared for our trip. Can't wait for our next adventure.

Thanks,
Dylan

Hello!

Matt and I LOVED every part of our honeymoon. All our flights were easy, transfers to and from the resort we’re enjoyable, Club Mobay was worth while, and SSC was amazing. We don’t have one single critique or complaint. Omar and Romaine were amazing Butlers and helped make our honeymoon unforgettable. Our room In the Dutch village was perfect! We loved how close it was to Latitudes and our spot on the beach.

We hope to get back to South Coast but maybe in the mean time we’ll convicne our families to go on a Beaches vacation next :)

Thank you for all your help!

We had an awesome time. The resort was beautiful and the staff was really friendly. The Butler service was great. We were really thankful for the Club Mobay service. We went on a River Tubing Excursion that was fun. The food and drinks (especially the Bob Marley) was fantastic. Thank you for all you did to make our vacation one we will never forget.

Hi Kim,

Thanks!  We had a blast at the wedding and on the honeymoon.

We loved Sandals South Coast and Jamaica.  The resort was great: great service everywhere, beautiful beach and pool areas, lots of food options and activities, and we really enjoyed having the butler service.  Our butlers, Jen and Davion were excellent.  It was definitely nice having our place on the beach or at the pool set up for us with towels and a cooler every morning, our reservations and excursions set up for us, bringing drinks and snacks, etc.

Kenroy was great.  He took us to both the Appleton Estate Rum Distillery tour and the Pelican Bar on the same day, and we had a blast.  It was a really cool experience to essentially have a private tour of the island with Kenroy and to get to talk with him to and from both places.  We also stopped to get Juici Patties on the way, which was fun.

The Appleton Estate tour was very fun and informative.  We got a tour of the facilities and rum-making process and got to taste three of their rums and a couple different rum drinks.  It's also a beautiful setting located in the valley between mountains.

Floyd's Pelican Bar was a great time too, and it was nice to be able to stay there as long as we wanted.  It's truly unlike any other bar we'd been to, being surrounded completely by water.  We enjoyed some Red Stripe, fresh fish, and, of course, the ocean views while we were there, and we added a Chiefs flag, KU hat, and our name to the bar.  A reggae music video was being filmed while we were there too, which only added to the fun.

We also did the YS Falls ziplining and waterfall tour through Island Routes with our buy 1, get 1 voucher.  We had a lot of fun with the ziplining, especially the longest one which went over the falls.  After ziplining, it was a lot of fun to walk around and swim in the falls.  The guides do a great job of showing you around the falls and getting photos for you.  We were able to jump in from above one of the falls, and I also enjoyed jumping in from the rope swing.

Overall, it was a wonderful honeymoon!  Thank you and the Love to Travel team for all your help and recommendations.  It definitely made the trip go smoothly.  We definitely hope to book more trips with you in the future!

Sincerely,

Ryan and Blythe

Hi Kim,
We had an AMAZING honeymoon! Of course we would recommend Sandals Whitehouse to anyone! Everyone in Jamaica was so friendly, we never had to worry about anything while we were there. The resort had some construction going on while we were there, however our Village was brand new and the construction didn’t really bother us (but we could see how others might be upset by this). Something we loved about the resort was that even though we were told it was booked up, it never seemed like it. We never had to worry about getting a chair on the beach or at the pool, and never had to wait for a table at dinner. The night entertainment was fun too! All the restaurants were amazing. Both of us would have to probably agree that the food and beach were our favorite part.

We LOVED YS Falls. I am not really an adventurous person, but I am so HAPPY Jake made me do it. It was beautiful and a very fun adventure. We have already told others that we would recommend doing an excursion early on in your honeymoon. The people we met on our YS Falls tour, quickly became people we made friends with and hung out the rest of our honeymoon with. We got a couples massage without credit, but didn’t end up doing any other excursions. We were afraid other ones would take up another full day and we were really just content doing free adventures through the resort and laying at the beach and pool.

Attached our some pictures. Thank you guys so much for all your help planning and coordinating our trip. I would also recommend you all to everyone and we will definitely be using you all again for our next trip. It was so easy on our part to plan and didn’t have to worry about a thing.

Thank you guys again for a trip we will never forget!

Jake and Kayleigh

Hello,

We did love Jamaica and enjoyed our stay at Sandals Whitehouse. We were somewhat disappointed in the amount of construction that was going on - both to the villages and to the beach. At one point an entire section of the beach was closed which took away from our favorite thing to do - stroll along the beach. Besides that, we loved the resort. The food options were great and the entertainment crew had a lot of fun things organized each evening.

Our favorite parts of the trip were our excursions. The South Coast Falls tour was really great!! We didn't realize it included a tour of the Black River, but that ended up being our second favorite part of the day. The falls were incredible! The guides helped us up the whole way, took really amazing pictures that we never would have gotten, and we were able to jump into multiple levels which was exhilarating!! The Rum tour was the last leg of the trip and honestly we could have done without that piece. It was interesting, but it was something we'd tell people to skip if they asked. Our second excursion was the Pelican Bar catamaran cruise. It was so cool to get out on the Caribbean and away from the resort. Just being on the water was beautiful and the "booze cruise" atmosphere was a lot of fun. The bar was cool too! The lobster lunch they offer is something I'd recommend people not skip! (The meals we had off the resort were by far the best we had!)

I've included some pictures for you below. I fell in love with the sunsets - they turned the sky to cotton candy every night, so sent a couple of my favorites! Thank you sooooo much for your help organizing our trip, it really was perfect!
