Nick & Kate

Man where to start!! We met in college but were only just acquaintances, having mutual friends. We really did not start talking much until meeting up after college one night at a friends house. From then on out we started talking and ended up making it officially official as a couple on my favorite holiday, Halloween!
We moved in together about 6 months after dating and lived together in multiple places over 10 years! Downtown KC, outside of Liberty, in Waldo area and finally residing in our home purchased together in Overland Park in the summer of 2016! Yes, we dated for 10 years before saying “I Do!”
I remember the day so perfectly that he proposed. I won’t ever forget it. We had been cleaning and lounging on a cold Saturday on December 23rd. We casually thought we would go grab some steaks and do the plaza lights (like we do almost every year). I literally threw on a T-shirt, hooded zip up and jeans haha! Nick was for sure more dressed up in a button up, collared shirt and he did look at me and say “is that what you’re going to wear? I mean it’s fine but” Haha! I told him yes because Kansas City is so casual :) We went to Plaza III steakhouse and he reserved a table that was sort of secluded (I still have no idea at this point). Within minutes of sitting down, he did get a little giddy and started fumbling with something under his coat. Eventually he told me to take his coat and put it on the back of my chair which I thought was odd... why can’t he put it in the back of his?? Ha! I did it anyways. Nick got into a long speech and I knew something was up! But then at the end of the speech he said “ok well I need to go to the bathroom” and stood up... I was so confused for a split second and then he got down on one knee!! We were so ecstatic and called our parents, siblings and texted a few close friends. I couldn’t believe it!! I asked him why he had to say that he needed to use the restroom at the end of it and he said that he needed a good transition to stand up to get down on one knee :) Still is funny to this day!!
We’ve always talked about a destination wedding after his oldest sister got married overseas where she lives. At this point in our early 30s we wanted to go somewhere and bring those we are the most important to us! We just didn’t think a wedding in town was really what we truly wanted. After getting Love to Travels information through a family friend, we booked almost immediately!! And I tell you what... it was the best decision we have ever made (besides our wonderful dogs and our house lol). I can’t thank them enough for our dream wedding!

Why did you choose to partner with Love to Travel for your destination wedding:
They had so many options and were very knowledgeable and helpful in regards to such a large group to accommodate for! Their customer service is out of this world and made it so easy for us to sit back as they took care of all the booking through the resort and all of our guests questions!!
Advice to other wedding couples:
Do NOT stress... I did a little bit and it’s hard not to. BUT literally everything is taken care of when you arrive honestly. A lot of places are pretty last minute where we in the United States like to plan things WAY ahead of time! Just sit back and enjoy it and give yourself enough time to get the word out to your guests! I stressed over small details but no one ever paid attention to the details... lots of booze, laughter and dancing lol. our guests still say it’s the best wedding they’ve ever been to!
Preferred 1 year anniversary trip location:
We may do something for 2-5 year anniversary since we’re taking a honeymoon shortly!
