We had an absolutely amazing time during our stay at Hotel Xcaret in Playa del Carmen and will definitely be back someday! It has to be the most beautiful place we have ever been and the attention to detail there is unbelievable. Having access to the 9 parks was such a nice perk to the stay. We visited Xplor, Xel-ha' and the newest thrill seeking park, Xavage and had such a fun time at all of them!
The only complaints I had with Hotel Xcaret and things I think they should improve on would be: #1~they need a night club that plays some American music (we never heard anything but Spanish music the whole time there)--there weren't many things to do at night after dinner and people were looking for something. #2~The pools close at 8:00. They need to leave one pool open for those who want to swim...a swim up bar would be nice to go along with it! #3~They need a bigger sports bar with actual bar top tables and more seating around the bar. My husband, along with many others, want to keep up with games, etc. and that is not a priority at the hotel!
We have been to other all inclusive resorts and the food hasn't been great. Hotel Xcaret was the best we have been to that provided great food! If you plan on sending other clients to this resort, they MUST make dinner reservations ahead of time. A month ahead wouldn't be any too soon (we made 2 reservations ahead of time and got in to both restaurants but tried to make another a week before our travel date and that restaurant was already booked). My suggestion is to book something almost every night. You can always cancel when you get there if needed. If we would have waited to book restaurants when we got to the resort we would have not eaten anything but the buffet every day or at one of the restaurants that didn't require reservations (which those restaurants don't have the same caliper of menu items as those with reservations). We would have definitely been disappointed had we not made those reservations ahead of time. The two places we reserved were Xin Gao (Japanese--super yummy) and the Teatro del Rio (dinner with theater~fun show and food was decent). We wish we could have gotten into Las Cuevas (everyone there said it was amazing but it was booked before we even left home!)
I hope including our thoughts on our stay helps you all with future potential travelers to this location. Thank you for this resort recommendation! WE LOVED IT and didn't want to come home.
Thanks!

Hi Dave, |
Hello!
It was a wonderful place. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I would say it’s great for families. It was a much nicer place than other places friends went to. There weren’t many other teens, which was good for us, but maybe not for our seniors. I think for senior spring break it’s a little quiet. The food was outstanding. I didn’t have one bad thing. Really great. It doesn’t have a big sandy beach, if that is what someone is interested in, but the pools and lagoons were gorgeous. There were lots of activities and Downtown Playa was a quick taxi ride. That was a fun experience to shop there. The rooms were amazing and the beds were super comfy. Anything you could want was just a phone call away. Great service.
Everything was wonderful and really well organized! Thank you so much.
