Hard Rock Riviera Maya
Hard Rock Hotel was a lot of fun. Everyone had a great time. The massive resort credit was a lot of fun. We did the swim with dolphin excursion and the snorkel/zip line excursions with our credit. The dolphin excursion was a hit for everyone. Photos were quite pricey but the quality was good and you got quite a bit of time petting them which was nice. Snorkel excursion was fun because you did a lot of things, but the weather was not great and therefore snorkeling was not ideal. It was fun because you got to snorkel in the ocean and in a cave. You also repelled and zip lined. So it was a positive experience but would have been better with better weather. We were only able to get a Bali bed one day because most were already reserved by the time we got to a chance to speak with a vacation specialist. I would have liked to have had a Bali bed a couple of days but didn’t work out. We also did several spa treatments and the spa was really great. The beach was really nice with the lagoon. You could play in the ocean even on really rough days. Just wish the beach was a little larger but still really nice. I enjoyed the Bali bed a lot on the last day because of the service and location. On the last day, Matt and our oldest daughter (12) went on a scuba diving excursion. We had to pay for this because it wasn’t covered with the resort credits. It was a little pricey but well worth it. Matt and Hadyn had a great time doing the small certification and then doing 2 dives that day. The food was pretty good at the a la carte restaurants and the buffet was pretty good for breakfast. I thought room service food quality was better than the buffet. The kids club was great for the boys. They enjoyed it. The only thing I would ding would be our room location. We were a long way away from the pools and main activity areas. Matt hurt his foot for a few days and it was tough on him making the trek back and forth. We did manage to get golf cart rides to the lobby but we still had a little walk to get to that. Luckily his foot got better. We were also right by the elevator and the first night we were there it was really loud all night long. We let the front desk know but they were not too helpful in trying to find a solution. Luckily I had some extra ear plugs for a few of us and that helped but our room location wasn’t the best. We also didn’t use the balcony terrace very much. It sounds cool but it may not be worth extra money for it. Overall I would give it a 4-4.5 stars. We had a great time and are looking to go back to this area for spring break because we had a such a great time. The charter leg of the flight was great. The resort was about 45-60 min from the airport which seemed longer when you were ready to get there, but really wasn’t too bad. The resort credit was a nice to have for sure.
The trip was AWESOME!!! I loved Riviera Maya and the Hard Rock. It was amazing. The view from the room was great especially from the top deck.
My highlight was the pool with my book and relaxing. Didn't realize how much that was needed but I took advantage of every minute I could. On Thursday I started at the pool with 9 drinks and my goal was +1 each day. Yes, the goal was met each day too. Charley the pool guy was awesome too. All in all the people were really nice and friendly.
Did the massages and a pedicure and Monte went swimming with the dolphins snorkeling, did something else (can't remember what that was) and we went to some water place too. We wanted to go on the speed boat trip but it wasn't working the they didn't get enough reservations to go on the sailboat one but we found plenty to do. Didn't jump in the pool at the disco but I definitely thought about it. 🙈
One afternoon we went to Playa Del Carmen and walked around and shopped and ate. Kind of a scary taxi ride back but we made it. Sure was glad to see the entrance to Hard Rock.
Thank you so much for all your help with our trip. After I get back in January I'm going to be ready to plan another one for next year. Can't wait to see what you come up with next time.
Again, thank you for all your help.
