I apologize it has taken so long to get back to you. Things have been crazy since we returned. We went on a couple excursions and had many great experiences.
Road to Hana with Bryan Miner from Maui’s Private Guide We really enjoyed going through the Road to Hana with Bryan. We thought he was very informative. Not only did we suggest going around the whole road to Hana, he also knew of all the cool swimming and food stops. One of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had was on this as a little fish shack called Da Fish Shack. Bryan made the trip very memorable, we were able to jump off waterfall cliffs due to his knowledge of the water and rocks down below.
Parasailing at West Maui Parasail Parasailing was cool, we went with a group of 8 other people. We really enjoyed the captains on the boat with their humor and experience. Probably the highlight of this excursion was on the way back there was pod of dolphins. With us being the last trip of the day we were able to hang out and watch them for a little bit.
Luau at Old Lahaina Luau This had an old school feel for a typical Luau. We saw the pig being cooked in an underground oven and heard them explain how they do that. The show was nice and exactly what you would expect from a traditional Luau. When searching for Luau’s one of the big attractions is fire dancing, this one didn’t have that but we did know that going in. Good service and a wide selection of food choices.
Golf at Emerald Course at Wailea Golf Club Golf was something both of were really looking forward to. The course was in excellent condition and the views were just as good. Having the course so close to the hotel was convenient. We did get paired up with another couple which I normally wouldn’t expect from resort style golf. The staff was helpful with carrying bags and getting equipment ready.
Surfing at Maui Beach Boys Surfing excursion was a spur of the moment, last second decision. When we called they were able to get us in the day of in about 2 hours for a semi-private lesson. Semi-Private to them meant more than one person but it was just us two. The instructor knew his stuff and was very helpful in teaching us how to do the basics. The trip last almost 2 hours. They also gave us the option to purchase pictures at the end. The photos were a great price and really put a stamp on a great excursion. Highly recommend.
Hotel - Fairmont Kea Lani We enjoyed the hotel, the room we had was suite which had an extra room. This was nice as it gave us extra space to relax and keep our things. The adult pool was awesome, but it didn't make sense to us why the swim up bar was at the family pool instead of the adult pool. For how expensive the resort is we thought there were some slight things that could've been updated or maintained a little better. For the most part it is gorgeous but some of those little things make a difference. Restaurants at the hotel had good food but they were VERY pricey. Which, we expected for Hawaii. However, we were surprised that when eating off the resort, prices were reasonable, even at nice restaurants. It made it seem a little excessive that even a simple 2 egg breakfast at the hotel was $28. Overall it was a great resort.
Restaurants Some of our favorite restaurants were Da Fish Shack on the road the Hana and Monkeypod kitchen.
