El Dorado Casitas

Review by Kat & Kirk, 11/29/2015

Hey Dave
Today is our last day and just wanted to send you a note! We have had a WONDERFUL time! When we arrived there were some complications with our 2nd floor pool not working and we saw that the 1st floor lazy river was not busy at all so this eliminated our concerns about privacy.. So we upgraded to the 1st floor swim up pool next to the lazy river! (I hope Love to travel can get credit for this somehow, it was easy to upgrade and our concierge did it quickly) We would totally recommend this! There is maybe 1 person that swims by in the lazy river once a day and we have our own layout right across from the bar! Clemente has been an amazing bar tender and brings us drinks to our pool without us asking!

We wanted to thank you for whatever package you signed us up for because when we arrived they said “congrats on celebrating your wedding”,  I mentioned that we got married awhile ago but we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary on Dec 10th. So they told us that our package comes with the romantic dinner by the beach, a romantic breakfast in our room and they offered free massages. So AWESOME job! Apparently no proof is needed and upon arrival they just ask you what you are celebrating! Lol!
We did not take advantage of any excursions as it was really windy during our stay so sailing or snorkeling would not have been ideal! But we only felt a slight breeze from our suite and again can not recommend more the Casistas first floor private swim up pool (close to the ocean) for future couples coming in our same situation! Just perfect!

We have very much enjoyed our stay and wanted to thank you for all your planning!!
Big thanks

We had a BLAST! Thank you so much for our welcome package with beer and chips. You all made this so easy for us. We will definitely be using your services again. We just lounged around in our resort the whole week. We decided against excursions while we were there. The resort and people were SOO accommodating, polite and provided us with great services. Everything went very smoothly!

Hi Dave!

We had a great time! We loved the resort! It was very clean and nice! Lost of things going on, staff was friendly, swim-up pool and bar was fabulous in the Casitas. We went on 2 excursions. We went to the Chichen Iza- I thought it was really neat, but I probably wouldn’t go again. I think it’s one of those things that you must do one time in your life to see it, but I wouldn’t go again just because I’m not big on that kind of stuff, but it was very neat to see! It was an all day long trip on a bus. They took us to a sink hole and that was really cool to see as well! The other excursion we did was snorkeling with jet skis. I am glad we paid extra to do the jet skis because we got to ride around in the ocean on our own for about 45 minutes then snorkeled quite a bit on top of that!

Transfers were very smooth. The Lomas staff was very nice and always on time.
Your service was great! It was exactly how you said it would be and it was nice to be prepared for what to expect. I have attached a few pictures…we took quite a few! The weather was hot and sunny every day except the first day! It was great!! Thank you!!!

We had a very excellent time, as we expected we would. The crowd was more eclectic than the last time we went.  That was likely a timing issue, though, 2 years ago, it was nearly November and almost everyone in our group were Canadians, northerners or Europeans about our age.  This time, there was a large mix of ages and demographics.  It didn’t matter to us though, a little less conversation with others, we spent most of the time relaxing and just focusing on each other which was the intent anyway.

We love the Casitas, and the weather was awesome.  Just the perfect amount of sun, it wasn’t too hot or too chilly.  The water was a bit cool in the mornings, but warmed up after the first bloody mary.  We were in the 31st block, and those rooms were better yet than the 30 section we had been in before.  There really isn’t one single complaint about it.  Even with the restaurant there, we didn’t notice it, and began to enjoy having lunch so close nearby.  Hal and I did walk through the Generations resort next door, and were very impressed with those.  It seemed very dead though, and even the staff said it had been slow since opening.  If we ever chose to take our kiddos along, it would sure be something we would consider.  It did seem like they didn’t push the loyalty program as much, we only had a couple written notes about it.

The bar offerings seemed to be very generous, and had a great selection.  I drink vodka, so was impressed that they offered Grey Goose.  We were probably disappointed with the Kampai Asian restaurant; it seemed their sushi offerings were down and the atmosphere was below par.  Also, the restaurants on the hotel side didn’t seem to hold to the dress standard as those in the Casita section.

We did go on one excursion, and we would strongly recommend it to others who like to snorkel.  The Mayan Adventure Snorkeling tour was a great value.  A lot shoved into a half day, for a reasonable price.  Snorkeling in a cenote was very awesome, and the inlet snorkeling was unreal.  The tour was with a maximum of 12 people, so it’s not just being handed some fins and a mask.  Very cool.

The private transfer was the way to go.  Having gone several times now, it’s much better to bypass all that hassle and just hit the road.  Money well spent.  Also, we have referred you to a couple of friends who are working on vacations in the near future.  They are considering Dorado Casitas, among others.  So hopefully they will be in touch.

Many, many thanks for a great vacation!
