Drew & Jasmine
Dreams La Romana
May 26, 2018
Drew and I met at the University of Kansas through mutual friends. I was a sophomore and he was a senior. This coming January will mark 5 years of being together!
Destination & Resort:
Dreams La Romana - Dominican Republic
Wedding package:
We chose the Dreams Ultimate wedding package. It was definitely worth it with the amount of guests we had!
Number of guests:
47
Ceremony location:
Garden Gazebo
Cocktail Hour:
Taino Garden
Reception:
Beach
Wedding colors:
Coral, blush & gold
Favorite thing about the resort:
How secluded/non-commercialized it was. It was an absolutely perfect resort to have a destination wedding. We felt like we weren't being watched like hawks and in the center of everything at the resort. We did have some people watching but they were at a far enough distance that it didn't impose on our events. The staff was wonderful as well, so friendly and accommodating!
Favorite memory:
Spending time with our friends and family. It was truly an experience none of us will ever forget. It gave all of us who went, an opportunity to get to know each other over the course of 3-7 days rather than just having it jam-packed into one evening.
Why did you choose to partner with Love to Travel for your destination wedding:
We wanted our guests to be comfortable with traveling to a foreign country, especially since it was the first international trip for many. Drew and I had done some research about the different travel agencies in the Overland Park/KC area and were drawn in to Love to Travel after reading reviews and testimonials.
How was your experience with Love to Travel:
Our experience with Love to Travel was absolutely fabulous! The team did an excellent job of helping us choose the right location and with assisting our guests with their questions/concerns. Everyone on the team is so friendly and knowledgeable which made the booking experience a breeze. Drew and I are already in the works of planning our next trip with Love to Travel and will continue to book our future vacations with them!
Advice to other wedding couples:
Having a destination wedding is such a different experience than having a traditional or local wedding. You don't get to taste the food or cake and you don't get to see the venues beforehand (unless you've been to the resort prior). For us, it was honestly such a relief that we didn't have to worry about any of that stuff. Drew and I actually started out with the intention of having a local wedding in the KC area and were unbelievably stressed with just visiting the venues. Once we decided that a destination wedding was ultimately what we wanted, it was like a weight was lifted off our shoulders. After we chose our resort (there's so many good options out there!), we immediately picked where we wanted our ceremony and reception to be and then the rest of the planning/final decisions really didn't even happen until 6 months prior to our wedding date. There were even some decisions that didn't need to be made until we arrived to the resort.
Any additional information:
The food at Dreams La Romana was excellent, especially the food served during our wedding events. The cake itself was truly the best cake we have ever had. Overall, our wedding turned out to be so much better than we could of ever imagined. It will forever be one of our favorite memories and we cannot express our sincerest gratitude for the team at Love to Travel for all the hard work they did! We really couldn't of done it without them.
