Hello, |
Dave / Kim, and Love to Travel Team,
In regards to our Couples Negril vacation, I'd like to share the following comments:
We had a wonderful time. This was our first trip to Jamaica, and were a little anxious about the process of entering the country and clearing customs. With that in mind, we decided to purchase the MOBAY package, and found the entire process pretty easy. We were greeted upon departing the airplane and ushered to the baggage area. Once we retrieved our baggage, we were led to the customs area. Our MOBAY rep completed all of our paperwork on the way to customs and escorted us past the other travelers waiting in line and through the customs gate. The customs by-pass probably saved us about an hour. Once through customs we were led to the MOBAY lounge where our bags were checked, and we waited until our ground transportation was located outside of the airport. Within 5-10 minutes, our guide returned and told us she located our transfer.
After we retrieved our baggage from MOBAY, we were led to the airport doors by our guide (MOBAY guides cannot pass the doors with passengers), and she pointed to where we could find Kenroy. Kenroy greeted us by name and led us to his awaiting van. He allowed us a bit of time to grab a smoke while he loaded our bags, and then we left. Kenroy had drinks waiting for us in the van (beer, pop, and water), and offered us some local snacks he purchased from a street vendor. The snack was some sort of fruit that Kenroy had to teach us how to eat, it was pretty good! The hour and 3o minute trip to the resort seemed to go by quickly as we were having a nice conversation with Kenroy as he pointed out multiple areas of interest along the way, and informed us about the local culture and history of Jamaica.
We arrived a Couples Negril and were escorted to the check in counter. After saying goodbye to Kenroy and making arrangements for our return transfer, we began the check in process. Our bags were brought to our room and we were given a brief tour of the hotel on the way, and once we reached our room.
Our stay was great! The hotel room and common areas were clean, accessible, and in great condition. The service was outstanding, and the entire staff was very friendly and attentive. The pool area was well kept and not too crowded (no reserving pool-side seating ahead of the pool rush). I do wish the servers were a bit more attentive to the poolside guests. It took three days for them to hand out the red flags to pool guests to use to get the attention of the servers. The beach was clean, plenty of seating, and the servers were attentive. We did like the fact that each lounge chair came with a "floatie" to be used in the pool or ocean. The restaurants were great. Plenty of choices and we were impressed that although there were four main restaurants, with one closed two days of the week, the menu choices changed each night. It was as if there were more than the four restaurants because of the expanded menus. The self serve fountain drinks, pizza, ice cream, and snack bar / vegetable bar ensured we didn't have to wait if we wanted a quick snack.
We have a lot of Caribbean to see, and may not get back to Couples Negril soon, but it's now on our list!
